Thank you for your interest in the Shandaken: Catskill residency program.
Application deadline and other dates
Applications are due by 11:59 pm EST on September 30, 2024. Late applications cannot be considered. If you have any quick, specific questions about the application, please contact info@shandakenprojects.org, but only if you really, truly, absolutely can't puzzle it out yourself. Please submit all questions before end of day, September 23.
Residency scheduling explained
Applicants to Shandaken: Catskill can select one of the following tracks within the application:
A 1-week opportunity focused on training and/or becoming familiar with our equipment, followed by a subsequent 1-week opportunity about a month later focused on production
A 2-week opportunity focused on training and/or becoming familiar with our equipment, followed by a subsequent 2-week opportunity about a month later focused on production
The residency schedule is broken into two parts because we have found that an overwhelming majority of participating artists need some time to plan projects, order materials, and adjust files once they learn more about our equipment. If this kind of scheduling is impossible for you, or presents a significant and unavoidable hardship, we invite you to email us to ask about other options.
Health and safety
All residents must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to attend.
Costs
There is a $25 fee to apply. For those with special financial needs, fee waivers are available. To apply to have your fee waived, please email us with a few lines about your circumstances. The deadline for inquiries regarding waivers is end of day, September 23. If you are chosen to participate, your residency will be completely free, however at present we are unable to offer travel reimbursement, nor offer any financial support beyond our materials stipend.
Before you apply
All candidates should thoroughly review our FAQs and other online materials before beginning their application.
Selection process
Applications are juried by a panel of art professionals. Best efforts are made to offer time slots to successful applicants based on their preferences, but dates offered for residencies are nonnegotiable.
Thanks for taking the time to apply. We're looking forward to learning more about your work.
